I think, this should have been one of the few first posts on this board and sorry for having missed on this one. But, in a way it is good also that we missed on addressing this as we have posted many posts which can be linked from this post for a deeper insight.

What Is Low CARB: Opinions can vary on exactly how much is to be counted as Low Carb. However, by broader consensus, anything where the energy from digestible carbs is restricted to 20% maximum of energy requirements is low carb. So, for example if your daily energy requirement is 2000 kcal for the day, then a maximum of 400 kcal should be coming from carbs. This equates to 100 grams digestible carbs as each gram yields 4kcal ( I am not counting the energy needed to digest those carbs). Not all carbs (or starch) are digestible so some feed the gut bacteria and they do not spike blood sugar levels. Resistant Starch is one such class of starch. On the extreme end of LCHF is Ketogenic diet, where carbs go below 50 grams per day but we are not going into details of the same.

How much should be FAT: Obviously the term LOW CARB will always be associated with HIGH FAT as diabetics cannot go on HIGH PROTEIN diet because proteins also trigger same insulin response as digestible carbs (or starch). On Low Carb High Fat diet, FAT as to provide a minimum of 60% of total energy needs. So, if your requirement is 2000 kcal, a minimum of 1200 kcal has to come from good fats. each gram of fat yields 9 kcal so this equates to 133 grams of good fat.

Isn't FAT bad for heart? No, not on LCHF diet. Clear your doubts through tonnes of research here and here.

How much protein on LCHF: No more than 20% of total energy needs. Some say it can go upto 25% so you will need to test how much you can tolerate. As a thumb rule, never go beyond 25-30 grams protein in a single sitting.

So where and how to start?
    1. Check the Diabetes Self Management thread here.
    2. Check the LCHF resources forum.
    3. Check what others are posting in the forums in LCHF meals section.
    4. Post your current diet and PPBS/FBS/A1C numbers and many would be around to help you tweak your diet to switch over to LCHF and tame your diabetes on minimal drugs.
    Also please note that:
4C + 4P +9F= Total kcal intake where C,P and F are Carbs, Poteins and Fats, respectively, in grams.

Please add your views and queries by replying to this thread.
if you are all set to switch to LCHF, but confused on How to, then please take a look at Switching To Low Carb High Fat Diet - A How To!

Avoid both allopathy and Ayurvedic tablets you may skipp any one.In my opinion you may left all ayurvedic tablets Use only metformin and glimepride tab for control B S and for stress you may take Ashwaganda and shilazith capsules both 1-0-1.

Recently Patanjali tablets were prepared carefully by avoiding most of metalicquantity Madunasini vati for Diabetic and muktha vati for BP is seems tobe good it actually content good herbs like Amrta jamunseed Neem ground neem karelakutuja turmeric konnari seeds ashwaganda triphala ala methi bilva for madunasini and
for mykthavati brahmi shankapuspa arjuna serphaganda ashwaganda pushkaramoola baje etc In my opinion it may not harmfo kdney and also hear. All herbs is good and works as antioxidant. Anti oxidant property works to cure all bad elements stored in the body So it happens the body goes on healthy way.
this is my own opinion as best of my knowledge. However I am nota great specialist and also not a pharmascist of allopathy or ayurvedic medicine.
This advantage of this medicine it must be taken one hour before meals.
